Introducing the Peers.net Giveback Initiative: making professional peer support accessible to all teens and young adults
January 9, 2023, Indianapolis, IN – We’re so excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with our friends at Peers.net, as one of the launch partners in their giveback initiative, to offer all of our audience free support sessions.
Peers.net is a mental health support network, designed specifically for teens and young adults, where you can get the fully confidential and non-judgmental support you deserve from someone who actually understands what you’re going through. Confused? Think real people with real experiences, just like you, who have gone through mental health challenges, they’ve successfully overcome them, and have since been professionally trained to help others in need.No matter what you’re living or struggling with, you can talk to someone who has been in your shoes and can help you feel heard, be seen, and develop coping skills.
“We are committed to making Peers.net accessible to all youth. To fulfill this commitment, we are partnering with nonprofits and youth-led organizations to donate free Peers.net sessions for their teen and young adult members until we have insurance coverage for our peer support,” stated Felten.
All you have to do to book one or more free support sessions is visit Peers.net/Outcare and take the quiz to find someone that feels right to you, based on what YOU care about the most, whether it’s a shared identity, challenges or lived experiences. You can find someone to talk to in as little as 24 hours (this means no weeks or months-long waitlists), keep the camera on or off, choose 1 or multiple supporters.. it’s totally up to you. So find someone you can relate to, book a free + confidential session, and feel the difference.
Through the initiative, Peers.net will keep giving away sessions until they have reached their goal of getting widespread insurance coverage for peer support. If you have a teen or young adult in your life who could benefit from support, consider buying a gift card for them. Peers.net will donate one session for every session you buy.
