OutCare Health Announces the Appointment of New Members of Board of Directors

Advancing new initiatives with new perspectives.

INDIANAPOLIS — Today, OutCare Health (OutCare), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit LGBTQ+ health equity organization, announced its 2022-2024 members of the OutCare Health Board of Directors.

“We are so excited to welcome our third Board of Directors. Since our founding in 2015, we’ve grown with the help of amazing board members and volunteers. This new board of exceptional leaders brings a wealth of experience, passion, and knowledge to our organization, and I am thrilled by the opportunity to work closely with them going forward,” said OutCare Health Founder & President Dr. Dustin Nowaskie. “As we continue to confront the extensive health disparities for the LGBTQ+ community, this spirited group of leaders will help us take our organization to the next level as we work to provide training to organizations and resources for community members. I am honored by their commitment to our vision and mission.”

Since 2015, OutCare Health has trained providers and students, medical and administrative staff, and community members across the country through its cultural competency trainings that provide knowledge on how to communicate with and care for LGBTQ+ patients with increased sensitivity and by addressing practice gaps, identifying current needs, and supplementing providers with up-to-date education. OutCare has trained tens of thousands of individuals and trainings have been shown to improve provider cultural competency by at least 50% after just one hour.

“I’ve seen firsthand how organizations like OutCare are needed in the healthcare industry,” said Amy Jacobs Clinical Social Worker and therapist who works in the HIV/AIDS Treatment Program at the University of Michigan and board member of OutCare since 2020. “As a board member, I’ve trained providers across the country on the skills they need to treat patients in the LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to continuing to serve and increasing our presence in communities that need it most.”

The new board members, who have all joined since February, are listed below. They each serve on one or more of our dedicated committees. Many also serve with our state chapters and volunteer in their local communities.
