Los Angeles, CA – July 23, 2024 – OutCare Health, a leading nonprofit dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ health equity, is thrilled to announce the receipt of a grant from the American Heart Association’s Social Impact Funds. This grant will enable OutCare to expand its operations and extend its impact, enhancing support for health plans and systems to better serve LGBTQ+ communities.
With this grant, OutCare will significantly enhance its existing resources, including The OutList®, the most comprehensive directory of LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare providers. Additionally, the funds will facilitate extensive training for providers on affirming care practices, expand OutCare’s range of health resources, and develop a framework for measuring improved health outcomes for LGBTQ+ communities when access to affirming care and social drivers of health (SDOH) are appropriately addressed.
Lisa Suennen, Managing Partner for American Heart Association Ventures, commented: “For many small businesses or social enterprises, a lack of funding can hinder success and growth. The Social Impact Funds provide critical funding to empower community organizations to create scalable solutions to ensure every person has the same opportunity for a full, healthy life.”
This grant will enable OutCare Health to continue its crucial work and expand its services to meet the growing needs of LGBTQ+ communities, affirming its role as a leader in healthcare equity.
