OutCare Health, a leading 501 (c)(3) LGBTQ+ health equity organization dedicated to promoting inclusivity, affirmation, and dismantling barriers within the healthcare industry, is thrilled to partner again with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation this summer to host three exceptional scholars. Madeleine Cornejo, Frank Garcia, and Donnie Wilkie, all Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholars, will be joining OutCare Health this summer as LGBTQ+ Health Advocacy interns. These talented scholars bring a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for marginalized communities. Let’s get to know them better!

Madeleine Cornejo is a student at the University of Southern California majoring in Psychology on the pre-medicine track. In the future, she aims to become a psychiatrist and dedicate her career to the betterment of mental health. During her free time, she enjoys watching horror movies with her friends and traveling to new places with her mom and sister. She is very excited to become part of the OutCare Family this summer!
Frank Garcia (he/him)
Roma, Texas
Frank Garcia is a rising junior at Columbia University, majoring in Biology with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies. Frank aspires to continue his medical career and become a plastic surgeon specializing in gender-affirming care. Additionally, Frank is a part-time singer who loves creating music in his free time.
Donnie Wilkie (he/him)
Carrboro, North Carolina
Donnie Wilkie is a rising sophomore student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, with the intent to apply into UNC’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health Science program his sophomore year. Donnie’s passion for gender-affirming care, LGBTQ+ equity, public health, research, and community organization drove him towards OutCare’s LGBTQ+ Health Advocacy Internship this summer.
OutCare is thrilled to partner with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation for the second summer in a row to provide wonderful opportunities for scholars to network, try out potential career paths, and gain valuable work experience. Each year, the Foundation receives an increased number of quality applications to fund opportunities, and the process is selective.
Adding Madeleine, Frank, and Donnie to the OutCare Health team reinforces the organization’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and equity in healthcare. OutCare’s vision is to create a world where every LGBTQ+ person can access quality healthcare and feel empowered to live their healthiest, most authentic life. With their diverse backgrounds, educational accomplishments, and shared dedication to dismantling systemic barriers, these scholars bring fresh perspectives and valuable expertise to the organization and will help to continue making significant strides in promoting inclusivity and advocating for equitable healthcare for all.
